Confirmed…

My MATE who was in Eddie and the Hotrods found out this AM… the actual text he got was…. “Well it’s 10 years late but he’s finally gone”. This all stems from the miracle pancreatic cancer recovery he made… seems like a lot of the local musicians in Southend were very sceptical?? Anyway… loved his work and will be giving another view of Oil City Confidential tonight in remembrance.

Went by his mural down the seafront only yesterday. Weird to see the news of his passing this morning.

As for the cancer recovery. Many were sceptical but why would you rip up a lucrative HBO contract due to your health if that was not the case?

RIP Wilko.

I love this video of him explaining his guitar technique.

Simple, effective and 100% him.

Watched the Feelgoods from the earliest days. Very much music in 3D. At one pub gig Wilko almost whacked me on the head with the neck of his guitar, followed by Lee Brilleaux jumping off stage over our heads and landing on a table full of glasses. And yes he carried on singing from there.

Don't know much of their music but those that I do were some great stuff.

I was there too. Always stood near the front on Wilko's side of the stage. Loved Feelgood gigs.

RIP Wilko

As a Canvey-born boy I'm proud that such a great, influential band came off the island. I was too young to see the Feelgoods in their prime but did get to see them with Lee fronting in 1992. In later times I was lucky to see Wilko perform a few times. The Oil City documentary is superb. RIP Wilko, you Canvey Legend.

RIP you beautiful nutter!

Was there when him and the band did the last Tramshed gig.

He was all electric, goggle-eyed, mad energy.

Very sad news RIP

A very hardworking band - probably played every pub with a gig space south of the Watford Gap. I was far too young to see them live but that iconic album captures what the energy must have been really like. Not many live albums do that.

Very sad news but Wilko had done well to go on so long seeing as he'd been written off a few years back.
Anyway I've always loved the Feelgoods and saw them plenty of times in the 70's including dagenham roundhouse, NE London Poly and The Kursaal.
They were the kings of the pub rockers.
RIP Wilko
